Alessandra Aguilar

Staff Research Associate

Overview

Alessandra completed a dual major at the University of California, Berkeley in Chemical Biology and Integrative Biology. During her undergraduate research, she worked on enhancing NMR sensitivity and portability through implementation of diamond hyperpolarization. Alessandra aims to begin a medical career and continue research in microbiology and therapeutics. In the Sanders Lab, Alessandra focuses on the development and testing of antisense oligonucleotides (ASOs) to alter aberrant splicing in neurodevelopmental disorder-associated genes. She is interested in ASO optimization, discovery of cryptic splicing candidates, and enjoys collaborating with other groups to process samples for downstream data collection.
